Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is based on the concept that thoughts, emotions, physical sensations and actions, behaviours and beliefs are all interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle.

CBT helps you deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts. You’re shown how to change these negative patterns to improve the way you feel. Unlike some other talking treatments, CBT deals with your current problems, rather than focusing on issues from your past. It looks for practical ways and tools to improve your state of mind on a daily basis, leading to a healthier life and mindset.

Dr Alina has completed further training in advanced mental health and, as such, can offer extended psychological services like CBT, as well as interpersonal therapy and skills training, to our patients. After completing a mental health plan, Dr Alina can offer select patients the option of working with her on these focused psychological strategies. Whilst abbreviated work in this area is often an element of regular consultations, Dr Alina’s training enables her to do more in-depth sessions, usually a set of 5-6, to address the area involved.
