Mental Health

Good mental wellbeing is important for our physical health, and can help us achieve the goals we set for ourselves. The effect of mental illness can be severe on the individuals and families concerned, and its influence is far-reaching for society as a whole.

Mental illness describes a wide range of disorders such as depression, anxiety, stress, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Each disorder varies in its severity. If you are concerned about your mental health or that of a family member, your doctor can help you find out which therapies and treatments are available.

Doctors at Turn The Corner are trained to help you with both your mental and physical health. Some mental health problems, such as manic depression and schizophrenia, require specialist care. Your doctor will be able to refer you to an appropriate specialist that’s right for you.

In some cases, a mental health care plan might be appropriate. The care plan is a support plan for someone who is going through mental health issues. It might include a referral to a psychologist, for example. If the doctor agrees that you need additional support, you and the doctor will make the plan together. If you have a mental health care plan, Medicare will pay some or all of the cost of up to ten sessions with a mental health expert in a year.
