Important update on Meningococcal Disease

We have continued to see an increase in the number of Meningococcal cases over the past few years.

Australia’s Minister of Health has recently announced that the quad-strain Meningococcal vaccine (Men ACYW) will be added to the National Immunisation Schedule. This vaccine is expected to be offered instead of the Meningococcal C vaccine which children currently receive at 12 months of age. Finer details of the changes are yet to be released but we will endeavor to keep you up to date as we learn more.

Currently vaccination against the 4 Meningococcal strains (Men ACYW) is funded for year 10s and men who have sex with men. Vaccination for other groups of people can be arranged but is not funded. If you wish to vaccinate yourself or your child please discuss with your GP or Sarah our practice nurse.

Dr Alison Sands is back with another great read.

The book, a collaborative work from comedian Ruby Wax, a neuroscientist and a buddhist monk was reviewed on Radio National’s ‘All In The Mind’ podcast from Sunday 4 February 2018.
You can hear the podcast here:

The focus is on the workings of the mind and delves into Ruby’s own experience of depression and her learnings about mindfulness. ‚Äč
